EASTER SUNDAY - Risen
At church this morning, as previously mentioned the girls were involved in their Easter Play - it had several scenes - all relating to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were fantastic and made us extremely proud.
After the worship Therese and I sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and it was a very moving moment - during practice it was extremely hard to sing the words however when it came to the service we were able to sing without wavering - God was in the house.
Even though It was Mal's birthday he preached a powerful sermon titled "RISEN"
R – Respect
Distraught Mary being visited by Jesus before he ascended
John 20:11 - 17
Jesus respects our emotional pain and has the time to personally touch our lives.
I – Inspires
Jesus inspires the discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus.
Luke 24:13 – 35
V 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
V17… They stood still, their faces downcast.
V 19 … "What things?"…. They then described what they felt and how it wasn’t
going to plan, their disappointment with Jesus
S – Sets Free
Jesus appearing to self destructive/violent/religious Saul/Paul in Acts 9 to set
him free.
1 Timothy 1: 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a
violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 15 - 16
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into
the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.
But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners,
Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would
believe on him and receive eternal life.
He had to be set free / delivered for his own good and for the sake of others.
E – Encourages
Read John 20:24 – 28
Jesus helping doubting Thomas with a demonstration of reality.
Sometimes we are so discouraged we put unreasonable demands on Gods intervention
or demonstration of the reality before we will believe again. We don’t want others to
tell us they have experienced the presence of God we want it ourselves then we will
believe.

Jesus appearing to John on the island of Patmos. Showing him a glimpse of what is
next.
Read Revelations 1:12 – 18
What does R.I.S.E.N. mean for you?
The power for life and all its challenges comes from the same power that resurrected Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
Alive/Revealed: Render apparent, manifestly declare, shining, apparent, publicly, outward. To show, luminousness, fire, light.
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
